B3LAB is one of the Laboratories of Bioengineering section of DEIB (Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering) of the Politecnico in Milano, Italy.
The Lab aims at integrating Biomedical Engineering competences for the knowledge improvement in the area of Biosignals, Bioimaging and Bioinformatics (B3). In this way, a physiological or clinical phenomenon is studied in a more objective and quantitative approach which employs signals and data processing algorithms, which could be validated through observational mathematical models which are connected to well defined experimental protocols, in a variety of interacting systems and scales. The important opportunity is to be able to find possible correlates inside the complex path gene-to-organ instead of staying flat in the more traditional monodimensional or multidimensional signal and data processing approach. The main areas of applications are in the studying of cardiovascular and respiratory systems, in neurosciences, in genetics and genomic quantitative approaches for the objective of finding sensitive and validated biomarkers in physiological studies as well as in clinical applications (mainly in cardiology, neurology and oncology). ← Read less
